Flying over the Internet - Part 6

We have some nice articles on our site, but off course we're not full-time professional editors. This means that new articles are limited to just two or three per month. We collected a couple of good sites which give you a good reading in case you have some more time to kill.

The website of AOPA is worth a visit in its own right. Be sure to check the link to the Air Safety Foundation, and the on-line courses they offer. The monthly magazine of this organization, AOPA Pilot is also represented, and offers access to some sample articles. "General Aviation", the magazine of the UK branch of AOPA is even completely available for download.

The other large Pilot organization, the EAA, even has two magazines and both also offer previews in some articles: EAA SportPilot targets the pilots of Light Sport Aircraft in which many European ultralights are also certified, while EAA SportAviation goes larger and also deals with 'airplane' homebuilds and oldtimers.

Plane and Pilot Magazine is yet another aviation magazine that offers sample articles. The nice thing about this magazine is that it targets the piston pilots, so no reviews on business jets that most of us can only dream about flying. By the way: with the dollar to euro exchange rate being so interesting for us, this magazine only costs 1,5 euro per copy to have it delivered at your home if you take a subscription!

Avweb is a completely Internet-based. Very interesting are their newsletters which are send out twice per week. Although the focus is towards aviation in the United States, they also cover a lot of new on the manufacturers which will also interest European readers.

For Dutch speakers there is off course 'Piloot en Vliegtuig' which also has every month two previews: "Voorproef1" and "Voorproef2".

Those who rather watch than read will find their liking in many online video's on YouTube, or in a number of sites specialised in this. Airsports.tv discusses recent events, and they also have sometimes live streams of major events. Fullflap.tv in an online weekly aviation news show which you can also download as a video-cast in iTunes.

There are many more magazines (also here) off course, and here we only offer a brief - personal - selection of some that we thought are good. Please don't hesitate to leave your suggestions in our comments!
