Flyforfun.be Tour 2008

6 events are listed on one poster: they are the stages of the "flyforfun.be Tour 2008".

The original purpose of this site was to make one list with ALL the airsport events in Belgium. This year we go a little further: if you fly to one of the six events below, you can win a PocketFMS license. Among all participants a lucky pilots is drawn by an innocent hand. That pilot wins a Bombardier BB-3 watch!

The Tour has closed, the winner is known!

The summer in Belgium was more or less ok. We didn't always the clear blue skies that one wishes, and some of the events really suffered from this. Other events really struck it big time with the weather like the first day of the Diest fly-in. In any case, the participants to all events combined on our poster outnumbered 400!

Among these we had a drawing for the big prize: a Bombardier BB-3 watch. Well, actually, we had two: the winner of the first drawing didn't respond to our mails, so we had to do the process over again... If you flew to our events, and you find some e-mails of us in your inbox... too late: Luc Hellings, who flew to the Zoersel fly-in, will walk very soon with this nice pilot watch around his wrist!

The events

 10-18/5 Saint-Hubert: Belgian Gliding Championships
14-15/6 Cerfontaine: Yak and Radial Fly-In
 29/6 Moorsele: Open day
 15-17/8 Diest: Old-Timer Fly-In
 15-17/8: Ultralight tour of Belgium
 23-24/8 Zoersel: Fly-In

June 29th, the third stop of the flyforfun.be-tour in Moorsele. Jan Vanhulle brought us a report and pictures.

Yak formation take-offThe 'flyforfun.be tour' had another stop in the weekend of June 14th and 15th. Unfortunatly the weather made that many visitors were stranded in there home airport instead of flying to the Yak Fly-In in Cerfontaine. Jan Vanhulle of Air2Air did make it, and he brought us this report and pictures.

UPDATE: Also take a look at these pictures of the Yak Fly-In

Next event on the flyforfun-tour is the open day in Moorsele. This airfield has already a long history, as you can read here (unfortunatly only in Dutch)

To get a taste for the Yak Fly-In - one of the events featured in the tour - we present the winner of last years' photo competition as well as the Cerfontaine airfield where he flies, and where the Yak Fly-in is organised.

PocketFMS is a rapidly developing software suite for flight preparation and -execution. It consists of two separate programs; one running on a standard Windows PC, and one running a Windows Mobile PDA. Both programs offer the same functions that are synchronised at a mouse click. Via Internet, PocketFMS can obtain data that are required for flight planning like weather, airspace structure, locations and frequencies of airports and beacons and background maps for the desired region. These data are automatically incorporated in flight planning. Simply inform PocketFMS of where you're departing from and where you're heading for, and the rest is a breeze! Avoiding certain set airspaces or weather conditions can be performed by PocketFMS without user intervention - even during a diversion.

During flight, PocketFMS is an extensive Moving Map system that clearly indicates what's going to happen enroute. PocketFMS will warn you well ahead of any obstacles or controlled airspaces on your route, contains detailled information on communication- and navigation frequencies, and contains terrain elevation data as well. With a simple glance, the pilot remains aware of his present speed, heading, altitude and position. These data are stored during the entire flight and can be reviewed and printed after the flight.

PocketFMS is available on www.pocketfms.com and can be used for free for a period 30 days without any further restrictions.
