In the weeken of June 14th and 15th the first 'Yak fly-in' was organised in Cerfontaine (EBCF). Unfortunatly, the bad weather kept many pilots on the ground in the rest of Belgium. Fortunatly though, Jan Vanhulle of Air2Air did manage to get there and he send us this report and pictures.

In Cerfontaine we did enjoy a wonderful day on Sunday June 15th. Other parts of Belgium weren't that lucky, and were confronted with a lot of rain.
The airfield is in the middle of a green oasis towards the South of Charleroi. There are no neighboors here that complain about aircraft noise!
The welcome was very warm and helpfull beyond what we are used to.
Despite the perfect organisation, there were only a few Yaks around. Those that were there really went 'the extra mile' to give the large audience some entertainment in the form of nice aerobatics.
"Busting the tower" was apparently their favorite activity: surprise the audience by making a low approach from an angle that they don't see your coming...
Also the local skydiving club provided some demonstrations.
.
All in all a real shame of the weather elsewere which made for only a few visiting airplanes. In any case is the airfield really worth flying to... not only for the nice area, but also for the excellent 'cuisine' in the clubhouse!
Aerobatic demonstrations entertained the numerous visitors. Here is Etienne Verhellen and his plane 'Janie'
"...and now let's surprise those people sunbading..."
